English Library in La Herradura

Good news for the English speakers who enjoy reading or for those who want to improve their English: the Spanish Biblioteca of La Herradura has recently opened an English Library. It is located on the third floor of the Civic Center. It is open every Wednesday from 11AM to 1PM. You can easily become a member for only 10 euros per year and it entitles you up to eight books a fortnight.

If you want to lose weight and feel better about yourself, then you may want to attend the Weight Watchers meetings that are held in English in Salobrena and Almunecar. The meetings are held in English in Salobrena every Thursday morning at 10.30am in El Asador Restaurant, which is opposite of the big Supersol. Classes are also held in Almunecar in English on Thursday afternoon at 17.30 in the Hotel Las Arranyanes on the Paseo de Cotobro number 5. This is a great way to lose weight and meet nice people in the process.

Every Sunday in Almunecar at the restaurant Casa Morgan, which is referred to as a Gastronomic Museum, there is a wonderful 8 course Sunday lunch for only 20 euros plus IVA. If you are from Almunecar or La Herradura, transportation is included so you can enjoy all of the wine you would like. There is even live music from 2pm. This restaurant is a converted house with different rooms and atmospheres. It is decorated in rustic, Spanish style and is very warm and inviting. There is even a fireplace in the main dining room, so it makes a great place to go in winter.

Dancing Horses & Flamenco Dancers Wow Motril

As part of the summer festival of Motril, there was a world class equestrian show that featured 22, beautiful Andalucían horses, incredibly skilled riders, flamenco dancers and a spectacular band to which both the horses and the dancers danced to. The show, which was called The Spirit of Andalucia, had several unique and well prepared acts. The opening act featured a horse and carriage with flamenco dancers. The flamenco dancers were being carried around the arena and the flamenco dancers were waving and welcoming the applauding crowd.

Urb. Monte de los Almendros´ Annual Summer Party was a Roaring Success

On Saturday, 22 August, residents and people holidaying on Urbanization Monte de los Almendros gathered for a summer party. The theme was Andalucia, and many people dressed accordingly. Many women and young girls wore flamenco dresses and had their hair tied back and adorned with a colorful flower. Many men had on sombrero hats and high waisted black trousers, red scarves and boots. Others wore green and white since those are the colors of the flag of Andalucia. People´s attire was definitely a topic of conversation.

Gourmet food lovers must try Los Laureles Restaurant in Almunecar

Last night my husband and I ate a relatively new restaurant in Almunecar. It is called Los Laureles. We have eaten here several times, but they never cease to amaze us. The menu constantly changes and not only is the food top notch, it is absolutely great value for money as well. The service is impeccable. It is run by a young, hard working couple that are truly inspirational. She is Spanish and originally is from Almunecar and her partner Mark is English. He is the chef and she provides the wonderful service.

New gourmet restaurant opens in Playa Granada

If you are looking for a place to enjoy gourmet tapas or a meal in a nice atmosphere, be sure to go to Degusta´s in Playa Granada. It is located in front of the golf course in Motril. They are open for lunch and dinner. This restaurant belongs to the owner of the successful and well-liked Roberto's restaurant, which is located next door. Degusta's is definitely the trendy new place to be seen. You can eat outside under their covered porch or inside either at the large bar area or in the separate dining room.
