Jazz on the Coast 2013, in Almunecar

This July the Festival celebrates its twenty-six edition by strengthening its position as the most important jazz music event along the Andalusian coast. Jazz on the coast, as an extension of the Festival which takes place in Granada in November, is one of the oldest European jazz international event.

The Festival is in Almuñecar, in the far south of the European continent, a place which is right in front of Africa, surrounded by an amazing natural greenery and which historic heritage define a unique identity. Jazz on the Coast will be held near the sea, in a park, surrounded by  Phoenician ruins and just under the Moorish Castle.

Climate and landscape contributes to the merger of this music with other styles. More than twenty-five years endorse Jazz on the Coast as one of the most important festivals in Spain that has left an indelible imprint of names and music. From the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, Cuban and Brazilian, from New Orleans to Cadiz, on the stage of El Majuelo have passed  great artists such as Paquito D'Rivera, Danilo Pérez, Rosa Passos, Branford Marsalis, Tete Montoliu, Kenny Barron, Joe Zawinul, Dave Holland, Chano Domínguez, Joshua Redman and Chucho Valdes among many others.
