On Friday, 26 June 2026, Cumbre Villas and Burameldoo will once again bring a much-loved Dutch tradition to the Costa Tropical of Granada: the “Haring Party”, also known as the Herring & Eel Party.
After a successful first edition in 2025, our annual gathering returns to La Herradura, where clients, collaborators and local contacts are invited to enjoy fresh Dutch herring, smoked eel and other typical Dutch products in a relaxed setting. With the beach of La Herradura as its backdrop, the Haring Party brings together Dutch culinary heritage, local hospitality and the international spirit of the Costa Tropical.
A short impression of the 2025 edition was published by Diario Sexitano.
“Hollandse Nieuwe”: a taste of Dutch tradition
In the Netherlands, the arrival of the first fresh herring of the season is an important culinary moment. Known as “Hollandse Nieuwe”, this young herring is traditionally enjoyed in June and is closely linked to “Vlaggetjesdag” — or Flag Day — a festive celebration that marks the start of the herring season.
The name refers to the small flags that were traditionally used to decorate the fishing boats as they returned to harbour with the first catch. Over time, Vlaggetjesdag has become a well-known Dutch celebration, especially in coastal towns such as Scheveningen, where the new herring is welcomed with music, maritime traditions and plenty of food.
Hollandse Nieuwe is not just any herring. Its name is protected as a Traditional Speciality Guaranteed within the European Union, recognising the traditional preparation method of this much-loved Dutch delicacy. For many Dutch people, eating the first herring of the season is a moment of connection and tradition, often shared with friends, colleagues and business relations.
From the North Sea to the Costa Tropical
With the Haring Party, we bring a piece of Dutch tradition to the Mediterranean coast, while celebrating the place we are proud to call home.
Cumbre Villas and Burameldoo are both run by Dutch entrepreneurs who have built strong roots in the region. Cumbre Villas is a full-service luxury real estate agency specialising in quality properties on the Costa Tropical, while Burameldoo is a local developer with a focus on contemporary homes and high-quality residential projects.
Our collaboration is based not only on business and friendship, but also on a shared appreciation for the Costa Tropical, its people and its unique way of life. Through our work, we meet international buyers, property owners, local professionals and long-term residents, and we know that personal relationships are an essential part of life and business in this region.Â
That is why the Haring Party is about more than herring. It is an opportunity to reconnect, strengthen existing relationships and create new connections in an informal setting.Â

From a first edition to an annual tradition
The first edition of the Haring Party was organised on a small scale and received a very warm response. In 2025, clients, collaborators and friends of both companies came together in La Herradura for an afternoon that felt personal and well suited to the international character of the Costa Tropical.
In 2026, we are opening the event to a wider circle of clients, sellers, buyers, collaborators and professionals with whom we work or hope to work in the future. At the same time, we want the Haring Party to remain personal and closely connected to Cumbre Villas and Burameldoo, growing naturally as a recognisable yearly event within our network and local community.
We look forward to welcoming you in La Herradura for an afternoon of Dutch flavours, Mediterranean views and good company.
