Documentation you will need to apply for a Spanish mortgage

If you need to secure a mortgage for the property you are buying in Spain, it is possible to obtain a mortgage from a local Spanish bank. See below for the documentation you will need to apply for a Spanish mortgage. Please note that we have excellent contacts with local banks and can assist you in obtaining your mortgage.

You will need to provide the bank with the following information:

  • Passport

  • Residence card if you are Spanish resident (green card) or your non-resident number (NIE).

  • Personal bank statements for the last 6 months (for ALL of your accounts including retirement accounts, pension funds, investment accounts and fixed term deposits)

  • The three most recent wage slips

  • Previous year’s tax returns

  • If you are self-employed, audited accounts for the last two years

  • If you own other property in Spain, an updated “Nota Simple” for each property

  • Proof of any other sources of income that you may wish to borrow against

  • Copy of any tenancy agreements on buy-to-let properties

  • Details of any pension you receive
